The “Whiteboard” (use photograph) is the nerve-center of “GamePlan: “Early on in my wife’s dementia, when she could still read (slowly), I hit upon the idea of stationing a large whiteboard in our mudroom, through which we passed to enter and leave the house, that contained a greeting, the date, a list of the day’s activities and appointments, and reminders of our goals that would advance Barbara’s health – and slow the disease (diet, exercise, social engagement, intellectual stimulation, and stress management). First thing every morning, Barbara would study this “prescriptive” whiteboard, even long after she could make sense of it. It was a very tangible way that we were sharing the journey. Our digital “whiteboard” is the direct descendent and facsimile of that hand-drawn innovation.
